Painless, Comfortable Dentistry in Los Angeles
“A lot of people put off the dentist because a visit once hurt or felt rushed. Here, your comfort comes first. Before we start anything, I explain what I see, what your options are and what each step will feel like, and you decide what happens next. If you need a break, we stop. And I will never push you into treatment you don’t need or aren’t ready for.”
Dr. Joshua Barkhordar, DDS (“Dr. Josh”), UCSF School of Dentistry 2007
How we keep you comfortable
- Gentle, thorough numbing. We numb the area completely with local anesthetic before treatment, so most patients feel only mild pressure. Many small fillings done with drill-free air abrasion or our dental laser need little or no numbing at all.
- Sedation in our office. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia. For dental care, IV sedation is given by a board-certified dental anesthesiologist; for wisdom teeth and oral surgery, Dr. Aminpour administers IV sedation and general anesthesia. More about sedation.
- Breaks whenever you need one. We go at your pace. Raise your hand and we stop right away, no questions asked.
- Every step explained. We tell you what is about to happen before it happens and check in with you as we go.
- Something else to look at. TVs mounted on the ceilings above the treatment chairs let you watch a show while you relax.

Specialists under one roof
When you need more than general care, the specialist is in the same office, so there’s no referral across town and no new office to get used to.
- Root canals with our board-certified endodontist, Dr. Joseph Kim.
- Wisdom teeth and oral surgery with our oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Babak Bobby Aminpour.
- Gum treatment with our periodontist, Dr. Nathan Eshoiee.
Free limited exam and X-ray with Dr. Josh
Includes a complimentary limited exam and one periapical X-ray with Dr. Josh, not a specialist consultation. Specialist visits, additional imaging and treatment may involve separate fees, which we’ll explain before you proceed. New patients only; not combined with insurance billing. Our office will contact you to confirm your visit.
Request an AppointmentQuestions patients ask us
Will it hurt?
We numb the area completely before any treatment, so most patients feel only mild pressure. Many small fillings done with air abrasion or our dental laser need little or no numbing. If anything feels uncomfortable, raise your hand and we stop right away.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia, all in our office. For dental care, IV sedation is given by a board-certified dental anesthesiologist; for wisdom teeth and oral surgery, Dr. Aminpour administers IV sedation and general anesthesia. If you choose IV sedation or general anesthesia, you will need to fast beforehand and have an adult drive you home.
I’m nervous about the dentist. What should I expect?
We start by listening to what has made visits hard for you before. We explain each step before we do it, go at your pace, take breaks whenever you ask, and you can raise your hand to stop at any time. There is no judgment about the condition of your teeth and no pressure to start treatment. If it’s easier, text us first at (323) 283-9162.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans. We are not a provider for HMO plans, Medi-Cal or Medicare. Call us at (323) 922-6016 and we’ll help you check your plan before your visit. The free limited exam and X-ray offer is for new patients and is not combined with insurance billing.
